Description:
Light, water and magnificently illuminated castles have always fascinated people; baroque fireworks were the highlight of courtly festivals. On five weekends during the year, castles, buildings and churches on the banks of the river Havel are aglow with a blaze of lights. In the evening, the boats of the Potsdam White Fleet and the river Havel steamships put to sea for their three-hour parade trip. Along the Potsdam landscape of castles and parks, the convoy of boats glides in the sunset, before the boats reach the first highlight of the evening at Sacrow. A classical concert of brass instruments at the Heilandskirche (a church), which is aglow in the light of numerous torches, gets people in a festive mood for the ensuing sail past the splendidly illuminated Hohenzollern castles. The crowning conclusion of the trip is a baroque rain of fire from the Glienicker Brücke (a bridge), illuminated by Bengal lights.
