The poet Fontane never tired to write stories about the state of Brandenburg. In his "Wanderungen durch die Mark Brandenburg" ("Hikes through Mark Brandenburg") he describes the intense attractiveness of the landscape, nature and the people in this area full of emphasis.

In our day and age, this idyllic landscape still provides room for quiet and intense moments. Whether by foot, by
bike or on horseback - each discovery route offers different facets well
worth experiencing. Around one third of the landscape consists of nature reserves like the biosphere reserve "Schorfheide-Chorin", the Spreewald Forest or the "Unteres Odertal" national park. These are supplemented by countless nature parks and 240 nature preserves.

Picturesque alleys lined with trees and pine forests - the symbol of the Brandenburg landscape - are characteristic for this region. During the summer, flowering poppy fields, blue cornflowers or yellow rape fields set colourful accents that can be seen from miles away. In Havelland, also called the fruit basket of Brandenburg, an ocean of white and pink tree blossoms greets you every year in April. With regards to culinary delights, the region also has its very own culture: lots of self-harvested fresh vegetables and fruit, game and fish dishes dominate the table.
