IBA Terraces - Changing lunar landscapes

Visit the IBA terraces in Großräschen, the central information and exhibition centre of the International Building Exhibition (IBA) in Prince Pückler country. Here, right by the shore of the future Ilse-See (a lake), inquisitive people can visit changing exhibitions and graphically and comprehensively experience the radical change in Lower Lusatia, the region for the open-cast mining of lignite. The proportions of the countryside marked by the lignite mining that lasted for years are gigantic and could be the scene for science fiction films. As to the IBA terraces, they consist of a promenade 270m in length, which is impressive in the alternation of three exhibition houses and open terraces and through its reference to the countryside and its clear shapes – in particular because of the tension between the archaic pit and the sensitive architecture. The view of the landscape located in between the IBA terraces and the Meuro open-cast mining area is fascinating.
