Our visitors can experience the journey from grain to bread. At the museum, they have the opportunity to use a grinding mill to process flour for baking. This type of equipment was most commonly used by farmers’ wives in medieval times. Our visitors can experience the journey from grain to bread. Sourdough, salt and water are then added in the bakery to make dough that is baked in the brushwood-fired clay oven. At the museum, you will learn how bread was baked in the past. Ancient bread making techniques are illustrated with equipment from bakeries from the surrounding region. Children enjoy making flour themselves and seeing how bread is baked on baking days.
