Almost every traveller who travelled the transit route to West Berlin knew Checkpoint Bravo. At the Commandant Tower monument of the former GDR border crossing point in Drewitz, the FREUNDwärts-FEINDwärts permanent exhibition documents destinies and events around Dreilinden.

After the border crossing point was torn down, the Commandant Tower remained. Today, the tower is a “Checkpoint Bravo e.V.” exhibition and event location. From 2005 to 2007, the association restored the tower ruins and was supported in doing so by many private sponsors, the states of Berlin and Brandenburg and the municipality of Kleinmachnow. In 2009 the permanent exhibition marking the 20th Anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall was opened.
