The “Neue Hütte” (new works) at Museumsdorf Glashütte museum village in Baruth dating from 1861 shows exhibitions on everything that is needed to produce glass where lampshades and fermenting bottles were once made. One large exhibit stands in the furnace hall with its historic production facilities, the old bath furnace. Changing special exhibitions are dedicated to the ancient craft of glass-making. The tour ends in the glass studio, where glass-makers demonstrate their industrial craft. Anyone who wishes can try blowing glass themselves. The museum shop stocks all kinds of useful and decorative glass objects and literature on glass. Everyone is guaranteed to find a pretty souvenir here to take home.
