The 1,300 hectare Lake Senftenberger See is the “mother lake” in the Lusatian Lake District, situated in the middle of the navigable network of waterways in this newly emerging region. In total, several sections of bathing area with an overall length of 7 kilometres are spread around the lake.
The bathing area between Niemtsch and Südsee is very quiet and has lots of unspoilt swimming bays. The bathing area is particularly popular with nature lovers. The Südsee area is around 1,800 metres long; alongside the main bathing area, the swimming bays are broken by wide reed beds. The area has paid parking and bathroom facilities. At the Südsee bathing area, there are separately designated textile, nudist and dog swimming areas. It is also the location for the base station of the local diving association.
