The Archiv verschwundener Orte (“Archive of disappeared villages”) in Horno documents the history of 137 villages in the Lausitz region that either wholly or partly gave way to the lignite-mining industry. The centre point of the exhibition is a walkable map that shows the entire Lausitz region. Visitors can use an interactive info point to digitally manoeuvre through all of the disappeared places. At multimedia stations, films and a wide array of contemporary witnesses tell the tale of lignite mining in the Lausitz region.
