The fourth stage of the "Havel Cycle Path" leads over 59 kilometers from Potsdam to Brandenburg an der Havel. From the Alter Markt in Potsdam you drive along the Breite Straße to the Neustädter Havelbucht, from here continue along the Kiewitt to Potsdam West. On the Reinhold-Mohr-Ufer you pass the Potsdam marina, the "Luftschiffhafen" and the Pirschheide train station. You finally get to Geltow via the northern shore of Lake Templin.

The route takes you along the Lake Schwielowsee to Werder/ Havel. After Werder/ Havel, the route continues through the natural Havel countryside directly on the Havel dyke via Ketzin to Brandenburg an der Havel. 

Distance: 59 kilometres

Start: Potsdam / Finish: Brandenburg / Havel

How to get there: From Berlin central station take the RE1 (towards Brandenburg/Havel) to Potsdam central station (about 30 minutes)

Return journey: Take the RE1 regional train (towards Frankfurt/Oder) to Berlin central station (about 1 hour).

Route: Potsdam, Geltow, Werder/Havel, Phöben, Deetz, Gollwitz, Brandenburg/Havel

  • Potsdam: Steam Engine Building (Mosque), harbour
  • Werder: Town centre, post mill
  • Deetz: Local history museum
  • Götzer Berge observation tower
  • Brandenburg/Havel: Historic town centre, St. Katharinenkirche church, St. Gotthardtkirche church, St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, Archäologisches Landesmuseum (archaeological museum), industrial museum
