The second stage of the 66-Lakes Hiking Trail takes you from Marquardt to Brieselang. The route takes you through the Havelland lowland landscape along the Havel Canal and then to the outskirts of Berlin.

Length: 21 kilometres (4-5 hours)

Start: Marquardt, Finish: Brieselang

How to get there: From Berlin central station, take the RE4 (Rathenow) to Wustermark. From here, continue by taking the RB21 (Potsdam central station) to Marquardt (about 1 hour).

Return journey: Take the RB10 (Berlin Südkreuz) from Brieselang to Berlin central station (about 30 minutes).

Route: Marquardt, Buchow, Karzpow, Wustermark und Brieselang

Route description: Before the canal, about a third of the way into the route near Buchow-Karzpow, becomes your constant companion, the route from Marquardt mostly consists of paved paths through the Havelland landscape: Open fields, small woods, marshy meadows and fruit trees line the path. With its 24 uphill meters and 31 downhill metres, this is a very pleasant stage. The maximum height is 47 metres above sea level, the minimum height is 27 metres above sea level.
