The ninth stage of Tour Brandenburg extends 59 kilometres from Chorin to Wriezen. The tour first takes you through the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve with its woods. Once in Niederfinow you will see the famous boat lift. You then follow the Oder-Havel Canal to Oderberg and Hohenwutzen an der Oder. You reach the spa town of Bad Freienwalde via the northern Oderbruch. You then pass along the edge of the Oderbruch to get to Wriezen.

How to get there: From Berlin central station take the RE3 (Schwedt) to Chorin (about 45 minutes).

Return journey: Take the RB60 from Wriezen to Eberswalde. Take the RE3 (Lutherstadt Wittenberg) regional express train from here to Berlin central station (about 1.5 hours).

Route: Chorin, Sandkrug, Stecherschleuse, Niederfinow, Liepe, Oderberg, Hohenwutzen, Neuglietzen, Altglietzen, Schiffmühle, Bad Freienwalde, Neugaul, Rathsdorf, Wriezen

  • Chorin: Village church, Cistercian monastery
  • Niederfinow: Boat lift, Finow Canal
  • Liepe: Village church
  • Oderberg: St.-Nikolai church, inland shipping museum
  • Altglietzen: Historic ring kiln at the brick factory
  • Schiffmühle: Fontanehaus, the former home of German novelist and poet Theodor Fontane
  • Bad Freienwalde: Observation tower on the Galgenberg, castle, Eulenturm tower, Schanzenturm ski jump tower, St. Nikolai church
