Now a listed building, it was pianist, composer and music educator Xaver Scharwenka (1850-1924) who originally had this house built in 1910/11 using pitch pine wood imported from America – he referred to as his “muse cabin”. Today it houses Brandenburg’s first music museum and holds the Scharwenka Archive, which also includes the work of his brother Philipp Scharwenka (1847-1917). The programme is rounded off with local history exhibitions, an art cabinet, concerts and numerous events.
