Visitors to the observatory, who arrive in Liebenhof via the little cobbled street will soon realise one thing: There is very little light that might disturb them when watching the night-time sky. The conditions are ideal at the privately operated observatory on the edge of the Märkische Schweiz that is located only 40 kilometres from Berlin.

Interested amateurs and experts can arrange to use the scientific astro dome of the German Aerospace Center with qualified guidance. The facility’s equipment includes a very good TEC 140 millimetres refractor and various reflector telescopes, as well as portable Dobsen telescopes. There is also equipment for observations during the day: The Coronado telescope can make protuberances on the edge of the sun visible.

The latest events are listed on the website. Tours and observation sessions are available subject to pre-booking. The facility is also available as overnight accommodation. In immediate vicinity of the observatory, there is a circular planet themed trail.
