For centuries, the people of the Lausitz region lived from lignite mining. Today, the countryside between mining and redevelopment - which the 500-kilometre Prince Pueckler Cycle Path shows you - has a charm all of its own. The area currently offers a very special mix of old cultural landscapes, still active surface mining and “new” land. The tour takes you through the contemporary history of the Lausitz region, passing traditional settlements and villages, castles and parks as well as imposing industrial monuments.
