Length: 29 km (7h)

Start: Neuendorf am See

Destination: Halbe

Logo / route sign: Blue solid circle on white background

Arrival: take RE to Lübben. From here continue by bus to Neuendorf am See

Departure: From Halbe take RB

Route: Neuendorf am See, Leibsch, Köthen, Märkisch Buchholz, Halbe.

Route: The stage begins at the northwestern corner of the Spree Forest area, leaves the Spree and continues along meadows and a watercourse worth seeing, the connecting canal between the Spree and the Dahme, shows us paddocks and then continues in a large pine forest area. The six Köthen heath lakes, hidden uninhabited in the forest, form a contrast to the first part of the tour. The continuation along the Dahme Umflutkanal again offers different impressions. The combination of the Spreewald cover here in the north with the various vantage points along the way, the possible animal observations, the dreamy forest lakes, bathing and resting places and, with a detour, perhaps even to the observation tower on the Wehlaberg, the various highly recommendable restaurants and accommodation establishments, in connection with the previous stage, add up to that certain something that makes a hike as perfect as the icing on a cappuccino.

Possible combinations:

Köthener Heideseen hiking trail

Great 7-Lakes Tour

European long-distance hiking trail E10

Trail conditions / route layout: Outside towns, the stage leads almost continuously along unpaved forest and field paths and is extremely quiet. The paths are 50% natural, 40% partly paved and 10% hard surface.

Maps / Literature:
