This staircase is more than 100 years old! The Schillertreppe in Eberswalde. Completed in 1905, the staircase was originally called Moltketreppe, and only later was it renamed Schillertreppe. The people of Eberswalde loved it so much that they built a second staircase: The Goethetreppe.

The best way to get to the staircase is via Schillerstrasse with its impressive villas.

On your way up to the top you’ll discover lots of careful details like the small obelisks or the boar’s head spouting water in the fountain. At the top you’ll find a beautiful park with a new football pitch and basketball court as well as an exercise trail, plus the Luther Oak with a commemorative plaque dedicated to Martin Luther.

The staircase was reopened in August 2013 after extensive restoration work and today gleams brighter than ever.
