From the viewing platform you can see the active open-cast mine of the gravel pit and catch a glimpse of the rock layers formed during the Ice Age. Information panels tell you about the history of open-cast mining. From here, here you can take a hike to the adventure sites of Sperlingsherbe und Ihlowberge. You can find more information in the Groß-Ziethen geopark centre.
