E-WERK Luckenwalde is a renewable energy power plant, a center for contemporary art, and a research laboratory for Kunststrom (Art Electricity). Artist Pablo Wendel acquired the former coal power plant in 2017 with the vision of reviving it as a renewable art power plant, feeding electricity into the national grid, and at the same time using it as a center for contemporary art. As a non-profit institution, E-WERK reinvests all its income into its contemporary art program. It is now open to visitors for exhibitions, performance events, and educational programs in the fields of art and sustainability.
