The Schinkensee is nestled in the Schlaubetal Nature Park and is connected to the Langesee and Schulzenwasser to the north and the Hammersee to the south via the Schlaube. An idyllic hiking trail leads along the shore to the Schlaubebrücke bridge below the Siehdichum forester's lodge.

The fishing waters are located in the protected area of the Schlaubetal Nature Park. Responsible anglers keep their distance from the reeds and water lilies so as not to disturb the vegetation and habitats.
