Friedland is located between the Spree, Schwielochsee and Schlaubetal and comprises 16 neighbourhoods. The town centre is home to the church and the castle with the Friedland tourist information centre. The surrounding area offers idyllic hiking routes and supra-regional cycle paths through largely unspoilt nature. A hand-operated ferry connects Leißnitz and Ranzig and allows cyclists to take a shorter route around the Schwielochsee.

The Schlaubetal Nature Park impresses with its rich flora and fauna and invites you to relax. There are bathing beaches, boat moorings, resting and fishing spots along the Spree, Schwielochsee and smaller bodies of water.
