The Cottbus Baltic Sea has been flooded since April 12, 2019. Close to the former town of Lakoma, which had to make way for the open-cast mine, is the inlet structure through which the lake is supplied with water. The lake is also fed with groundwater. At the inlet structure there are parking spaces, a “lookout”, seating and barrier-free access to just above the water inlet.
