The tavern at the punting boat harbour in Alt Zauche is characterised by its typical Spreewald flair. During the peak season from April to September, guests can sit on simple wooden benches under sunshades that are put up outside the two little half-timbered houses. The menu includes specialities such as ‘Eierplins’ pancakes with apple sauce, as well as traditional fare: The schnitzels are beaten and breaded freshly on site.

Along with the food, guests can enjoy cold soft drinks, wine spritzers or beer, as well as hot drinks. Packed lunches for paddle boat tours are prepared by request, and the corresponding boats are also available for rent here. Those who would like to take home a piece of Spreewald Forest, are bound to find something they like in the gherkin barrels: the many varieties of the delicious local speciality include sour and spicy flavours, as well as mustard gherkins.
