“SP A C E D OU T” on the Gut Kerkow farm is to be found in the Spartan ambience of the store with wooden beams and timber floors. It’s initiators, Jochen and Christof Beutgen, co-owners of Gut Kerkow, want to bring international art out of the elite glamour of big city galleries into the farm’s rustic former hay barn and make it accessible to everyone in this informal setting. Here, city meets village, international art meets down-to-earth rural culture – without boundaries, without being afraid to touch and without any entry fee. A small number of large-format panels hang in the high space under the rustic wooden beam structure without overwhelming the space or detracting from the architecture. Up here, you also feel unwatched and can come along, linger for a while and then go again as you please. You can question, marvel and dream. You can experience art as something bigger that nevertheless does not come across as aloof in the old store – especially when you are then brought back to earth by the everyday reality of the farm with its cows and tractors. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
