At Märkisch Buchholz, water tourists travelling along the Dahme flood canal are immediately confronted with two weirs, around which boats must be carried. If you wish to only haul the boat out of the water once and you have a boat trailer, you can transport the boat over land on the 1.2 kilometre road alongside the canal.

The second weir is just outside the town of Märkisch Buchholz and is a single-level weir; you can get out just underneath the weir. Above the weir, the bank is secured with wooden piles so that the boats can be returned to the water again easily.
