The tour takes you right through the Lausitz region and can be started in the Oberlausitz region at the source of the Schwarze Elster. It takes you across meadows and woods, and most of the time you will cycle on the dyke, following the course of the Schwarze Elster to its confluence with the Elbe. This region has a varied landscape.

Length: 207 kilometres (Brandenburg section - 111 kilometres)

Start: Senftenberg (or source at Kindisch)
Finish: Elster (Elbe)

How to get there: from Berlin Ostkreuz take the RB 18364 to Senftenberg (about 2 hours).

If you would rather start at the source of the river, then take the RE3311 from Berlin central station to Elsterwerda-Biehla and then the RB18331 to Dresden. From there, you take the SBS74579 to Pulsnitz. From here it is about 10 kilometres by bicycle to the source. (about 5 hours).

Return journey: at the end of the route for about 5 kilometres along the Elbe Cycle Path to Elster (Elbe). From here, take the RE17738 (Dessau central station) to Lutherstadt Wittenberg and then the IC2282 (Rostock central station) to Berlin (about 2 hours).
