The third stage of the "Havel Cycle Path" leads over 66 kilometers from Oranienburg to Potsdam. First it goes via Birkenwerder to Hennigsdorf on the outskirts of Berlin. Directly on the Havel it goes to Berlin-Spandau. On the Heerstraße you reach the Scharfe Lanke. Following the banks of the Havel you reach Kladow, where you can take the ferry to Wannsee. From Lake Wannsee, it goes past the Peacock Island and Glienicke Park along the Havel over the Glienicke Bridge to Potsdam. The Berliner Strasse then leads with a detour to the banks of the Old Ride to the Old Market in Potsdam.

How to get there: From Berlin central station take the RE5 (Rostock) to Oranienburg (about 30 minutes).

Return journey: From Potsdam central station take the RE1 regional trail (Ostbahnhof) to Berlin central station (about 30 minutes).

  • Oranienburg: Sachsenhausen memorial and museum, palace and park, Oranienwerk venue
  • Birkenwerder: Clara-Zetkin memorial site
  • Niederneuendorf border tower
  • Potsdam: Glienicke Bridge, New Garden, Schiffbauergasse, Island Freundschaftsinsel, Old Market with St. Nicholai Church, State Parliament building, Barberini Museum, Potsdam Museum

Trail conditions/surface: In the Brandenburg district of Oberhavel, between Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the border with Berlin, the paths are in excellent condition, and are either as asphalted cycle paths or quiet side roads. Use the cycle paths in Potsdam.
