The slim, copper roof of the tower of the St.-Nikolai-Kirche church in Oderberg reaches over the roofs of the buildings of the historic town centre nestled into the steep hillsides as far as the Lower Oder Marsh. The Gothic Revival basilica was built from 1853 to 1855 under the direction of Friedrich August Stüler, the Royal Building Inspector. In 1998/99, the exterior façade was restored and in a second step the original colouring of the interior and the chimes were restored.

The offset tower and the façade featuring so-called Cyclops brickwork – large, irregular cobblestones combined with fine, ornate formed clinkers, reveals, gables and portals. On the west façade there is a large rose window and the apse is illuminated by five, high tracery windows.

A narrow path with steps leads past the church on the left to a viewing platform high above the town. From here, visitors have a far-reaching view of the Oderbruch former marshlands and the Oder-Havel Canal.
