Eberswalde Town Lock is the oldest, still operating lock in Germany. It was built in 1831. It was renovated in accordance with the guidelines for historic monuments in 2001. The original steel and wood lock gates were repaired and reinstalled. The lock is a technical monument as part of the historic locks of the Finow Canal. There is a boat mooring right by the lock. The terraced canalside promenade invited you to take a break in the immediate vicinity of the historic town centre.
