The manually operated Liepe Lock was first built in 1767. The lock in its current form was completed in 1974. The upper and lower gates were renovated in 1912. In 1952, the undershoot weir was installed in the south lock and in 2004 a new shutter weir was installed in the what was by then former south lock. Liepe lock is the last lock before the Finow Canal flows into the Oder-Havel Canal.
