Stecher Lock was first built in 1749 and rebuilding started in 1860; the lock in its current form was completed in 1877. In 1912, the upper and lower gated were rebuilt and a weir was built into the south lock in 1958. The lift was mechanised in 1968. The lock was closed from 1992 and only came back into operation in 1998 following repairs.

Up until 1997, the future of the Finow Canal was uncertain. In 1999, Euro 20 million was spent on renovating the canal and locks, which are now exclusively available to pleasure boats, sporting boats and passenger boat cruises.

Location: Fik 84.39 kilometres

Measurements: Lock chamber 41.42 metres long; 9.55 metres wide, upper and lower gate: 5.27 metres wide respectively.
