The 13th-century three-nave brick hall church of “St. Moritz" is located in the town centre of Mittenwalde and is not only known for its prominent pastor and hymn writer Paul Gerhardt (1607-1676), but also for having the highest accessible church tower in the state of Brandenburg. After climbing around 200 steps, visitors can at a height of around 50 m look out from the viewing platforms into the distant countryside in all directions. On the way up, four church bells dating from 1956 are visible. The tower of St. Moritz church, which was rededicated in 2014 after extensive interior restoration, measures an impressive 67 metres.

In the 13th-century brick hall church there are four bays, star-ribbed vaulting and a gallery choir (from around 1500), council and guild stalls from the 16th century, a wall altar from 1514 and the workplace of Paul Gerhardt from 1651 to 1657.

The open foyer of St. Moritz Church is open daily from about 10:00 to 15:00. From Pentecost until Reformation Day, guests can also visit St. Moritz Church and the church tower again every Saturday, Sunday and on public holidays from 10:00 to 16:00. Due to renovation work on the tower, the viewing plateau is closed until further notice, so that it is only possible to climb halfway up the church tower.

In addition, this is a church for concert enthusiasts, because musical events are regularly held here.

Services are held every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in the church – in winter in the St. Georgenkapelle, Berliner Vorstadt 18, 15749 Mittenwalde.
