Located on the southern edge of the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park, the region around Märkisch Buchholz/Köthen is the “gateway to the Spreewald forest”. The charming landscape with the Dahmetal valley, Lake Köthener See, the Heideseen lakes and the nearby Unterspreewald forest offers a wide range of possibilities for outdoor activities: Walks, cycling tours, water touring, horse rides and Nordic walking.

The tourist information centre offers visitors tips for days out throughout the Dahme-Seenland region, through the Spreewald forest and Lake Scharmützelsee as far as Fläming. The staff are also happy to help organise a full holiday in the region. In addition to free information leaflets and regional timetables, it also sells map materials, travel literature, souvenirs with real Spreewald forest products and postcards.

Coffee, drinks and snacks to eat along the way can also be purchased.
