The sculptor and painter Eike Rothe is a very versatile artist. His watercolour paintings frequently feature motifs from his home town, as well as hidden provincial gems, such as a lovingly restored castle, a dreamy farm building or a park in a summer night. However, Eike Rothe’s work also reflects his sophisticated sense of humour. In addition to small sculptures based on antique models, he creates work dedicated to the present day, such as his group of three sculptures titled “of public interest”. His main areas of activity are watercolour paintings and wood and clay sculpture.
