The small lake was created in 1978 through gravel extraction for the Holzdorf/Ost airfield. The lake was developed into a bathing lake in 2003. Lake Brandiser See is located on the B187, now surrounded by attractive forests and fields. At its handover, the Brandiser See bathing lake was given the name “Air Force Beach”.

Since then, it has been a popular destination for a day out not only for the residents of the town of Schönewalde but also for the military personnel stationed at the German Armed Forces site in Schönewalde/Holzdorf with its newly designed bathing area and “Cockpit” snack bar.
