This family walking tour along a nature experience path covers two kilometres from the Hoher Fläming Naturparkzentrum (Nature Park Centre) to Rabenstein Castle and back again. The path is marked by the middle spotted woodpecker, the animal that is the symbol of the Hoher Fläming Nature Park, and the motto of the tour is: ‘Just follow the beak!’ Stations including the bouncing steep track, the ear trumpet and the tree telephone provide special natural experiences along the way.

The Rabenstein Nature Reserve is also home to woodpeckers, who manage to chisel holes into tree trunks without getting a concussion!

Rabenstein Castle stands atop the 153-metre-high ‘Steiler Hagen’ hill, and there’s plenty to discover on the castle estate. Alongside the castle courtyard, the knights’ hall and the torture chamber, a climb up the castle tower is also a must! From here you can overlook the nature park’s extensive forests.

The Flämingfalknerei falconry can be found not far from the castle. There are flight demonstrations from April 1 to October 15 from Tuesday to Sunday at 2:30 p.m. You can experience these impressive animals up-close and feel the pounding of their wings.

The route back follows a wooden staircase with 100 steps. (If you have a pram with you, you will have to take the same route back as on the way there.)

If you’ve still got some energy left by the time you get back to the starting point, it’s worth visiting the Erlebnisausstellung (experience exhibition) in the Naturparkzentrum (Nature Park Centre) or spend a while letting off steam in the large adventure playground. The Naturparkzentrum also rents out play equipment.
