The banks of the River Neiße in Guben, to the north of the weir, were once home to the town’s huge cloth factory, but in 2007 the estate was transformed into a green oasis. The terraces make the River Neiße accessible for both visitors and locals in the town centre, with an open view of the surroundings to relax and enjoy. Parts of the old factory walls have been preserved as relics in the park and have been artfully integrated into the greenery. There is a direct connection between Guben’s Neiße Terraces and Gubin’s Theatre Island via a pedestrian bridge, allowing visitors to walk across the island to the historic centre of Gubin.
