The tour starts at Ostdeutscher Rosengarten Forst (Lausitz) and will take you to the nature reserve “Hispe”, the last intact wetland forest by the river Neiße with its population of English oaks and hornbeam trees, willows, black poplar groves, as well as wetland meadows and reed. The “Hispe” nature reserve is a habitat for endangered animal species, and it is in particular a breeding and feeding ground for water birds, birds of prey and songbirds. Various species of bird as well as deer and wild boars can be observed here.

The tour takes us on through the little villages Groß and Klein Bademäusel and on to Bahren, which are all located along the Neiße Cycle Path. Lucky tourists can spot cranes, wild geese, hares, foxes and deer.

The bicycle tour then takes us to the nature conservation area “Schwarze Grube”, where we park our bicycles to walk to Wolfsschlucht (“wolf canyon”) along the circular trail of the “fairy tale forest”. If you are lucky, you may spot some deer or wild boars here, too. Footprints and droppings of wolves have also been found in this area.

Dates: by arrangement, between May and August
Duration of the tour: about eight hours
