Back in 1768, the timber barn “Schrotholzscheune” in Bergen was built in the typical log house style of the Lausitz region. It is home to exhibitions about Sorbian culture and a demonstration workshop. The barn is surrounded by a lovely garden with colourful flowers and fragrant herbs. The master glass and porcelain painter Birgit Pattoka takes visitors on tours of the timber barn. She shares interesting stories and information about the Sorbs’ working methods, customs and their funny legends. Hand-painted glass and porcelain is presented in the demonstration workshop.
Event tip: annual special exhibition “Springtime/Eastertime” from the start of spring until early summer, with more than 1,000 decorated Easter eggs from around the world, from the Lausitz region and the villages of the Elsterheide region.
