Großkmehlen Palace was built in the 16th century as a Renaissance palace and was extensively extended around 100 years later. The magnificent Baroque stucco work on the first floor is most likely crafted by Italian artists. The magnificent three-storey Renaissance palace with its park and parts of the estate was sold in 2000 to Brandenburgische Schlösser GmbH, which has gradually renovated it. Around Euro 3.5 million have already been invested in the complex, which also includes the prestigious hunting lodge. It is assumed that this building, which was much easier to heat, was used as a winter dwelling for the estate.

The former castle moat and also the four-hectare park with a pond and gazebo are essentially preserved and – largely restored – are perfect for a leisurely walk.

Today, the palace is home to artists and a painting school. Regular events are also held, including the Palace and Hop Festival on the first weekend in September. And couples can also tie the knot in the romantic ambience of the palace and Palace Park.
