In 1763, Friedrich II created terraces on the property under the Mühlenberg to grow table grapes and exotic fruits for the court. Some renovation measures were already carried out in the years 1790-94, including the repair of the roof and the insertion of stone sleepers. King Friedrich Wilhelm IV had the idea of erecting a temple-shaped monument to Friedrich on the top of the mountain. In 1838, Karl Friedrich Schinkel revised the plans for the Via Triumphalis, the Höhenstraße. The triumphal gate was finally realized, built in 1850/51 according to plans by Friedrich August Stüler. During the next modernization in 1848 by the garden director Peter Joseph Lenné, the lowest terrace wall was faced with exposed brickwork and a staircase. In 1849 Ludwig Ferdinand Hesse carried out the planned design of the winegrower's house.

Since 2005, the Winzerberg Bauverein e.V. has taken care of the reconstruction of the terraces and the management of the green areas. Guided tours are also offered for those interested in history and the Wineyard is open during the summer months for Bacchus hour and for concerts and events.
