The keep of the former Gänse Castle is a must-see in Putlitz. The Ruhner hills are easy to see from here. Rising to 176 metres, they are the second highest elevation in Mecklenburg and stand directly on the border with the Prignitz region. The ascent to the observation tower through the forest presents a thrilling read: the stories of the treasure hidden in the mountain, the spirit at the hollow tree and the giant blowing the clouds over the country are written in the local Platt German dialect and in High German. The top of the tower provides a magnificent view across the plain.
