The Thirty Years’ War Museum is arranged over seven floors in the official tower of the Bischofsburg Castle in Wittstock. Linked to visitors’ own experiences, the exhibition presents the competing parties for universal power in Europe, the suffering of the population, soldiers as perpetrators and victims, weapons technology and the great battles until peace was finally obtained. The large number of original autographs, weapons and other evidence from this period of the first European war is quite remarkable. The museum also organises special exhibitions, exciting guided tours and various projects for groups, such as "Everyday life in the Thirty Years’ War”, "Everyday life in the Middle Ages” and "Historic school days around 1900”. The Ostprignitz Museum, dedicated to the Eastern Prignitz region, is also located within the Bischofsburg Castle grounds.
