Unique in Germany, more than 30 stork couples raise their young ones in the European Stork Village in Rühstädt in the Elbe-Brandenburg River Landscape Biosphere Reserve. From mid-March onwards, the globetrotters land with a clatter on their large nests on roofs having flown thousands of kilometres.

This is why Rühstädt visitor centre offers background information on the white stork in the »Weltenbummler Adebar« (Adebar Globetrotter) exhibition arranged by NABU, the German environmental organisation. In addition, visitors can watch live broadcasts of the stork couples feeding their young ones on the roofs in summer. Exciting scenes from the storks’ lives are presented in around 30 short videos that range from poignant to amusing. This season, the exhibition will be expanded to include two rooms presenting information on “storks around the world”.
