Hohenbruch Lock is part of the Ruppiner Canal, forming a navigable connection between the River Rhin at Lake Ruppiner See and the River Havel at Oranienburg. The construction of the canal was completed in 1790. The current lock in Hohenbruch was built in 1890. It was reconstructed in 1994.

The lock is always operated on the hour.

The lock is not operated from December to mid-March.
