One advantage for water tourers and boating tourists travelling in the Rheinsberg lakes is that they are completely free of locks. What is more, there is only one weir. This is located in Rheinsberg Park. It dams Lake Grienericksee to the Rheinsberger Rhin. Water tourers who wish to paddle on the Rheinsberger Rhin have to carry their boat around to the right of this weir, which is quite straightforward.

This river is unusually fast-flowing for the region and has many bends, so only 1 and 2-person kayaks are allowed. Boats may not moor in the area of Rheinsberg Park.
