Lots of ice and large stones make it possible to follow in the footsteps of the Ice Age between Erkner and Fürstenwalde/Spree. The last ice age 18,000 years ago also left its mark on the Oder-Spree lake district. Mighty boulders, ice age lakes such as Trebuser See and elevations still bear witness to this today. The perfect way to explore this exciting region by bike on a beautiful, warm day.

Route description

The tour starts in Erkner. The stones lying on the side of the path or in the ground here have come a long way from Scandinavia. The stones came to us from Norway and Sweden with the glaciers. You can find out more about this at the Fürstenwalde/Spree town museum. It houses the largest collection of ice-age rocks in Europe! And there are even more large stones in the rock garden in the Bürgerpark at St. Mary's Cathedral.

Between Fürstenwalde and Erkner, the Spree shows its most beautiful side. The river meanders in many twists and turns towards Berlin. There are always little spots where you have a wonderful view of the Spree. You should definitely take a break at the beautifully situated bivouac site in Mönchswinkel. Just dip your feet in the slowly flowing Spree and you're ready to continue. If you want, you can even spend the night here in the open air.

A visit to the brewery museum in Fürstenwalde and a refreshing Fürstenwalde beer!
