To make sure you have plenty of food to keep your strength up, why not stop off at the Ranzig country butcher’s shop. After that you can relax a little and simply cross the lake on Brandenburg’s last hand cable ferry between Ranzig and Leißnitz. It is worth making a detour to Friedland. There you will find the third Strele castle in Brandenburg, an old Slavic castle from the 13th century, which was also used by the Knights of St. John as a residence. If you have now had enough exercise, you cycle back to Beeskow along the cycle path.

However, if you complete all 49 kilometres of the Lake Schwielochsee Tour, you will have truly conquered Brandenburg’s largest lake! En route you will pass Trebatsch and its museum about the Australia explorer Leichenhardt as well as Sawall, where you should take a climb up the 61-metre viewpoint. You will be rewarded with stunning views of the lake. If you complete the tour around the lake you will encounter Friedland anyway, and therefore also the Strele castle. But the main attraction of this long bicycle tour is of course Lake Schwielochsee. Water as far as the eye can see and a beautiful landscape make the long trip a true nature experience. The vast landscape stretches out before you, and there will be plenty of opportunities to stop off and enjoy the views. There are also lots of bathing areas inviting you to enjoy the refreshing water and regain your strength. Time will no longer matter, because it’s all about relaxation here.
