The lake is known for large carp and catfish as well as good chances of catching pike and zander. Reeds and lily pads as well as dense underwater vegetation require some experience, but offer interesting fishing opportunities. The ‘Großer Treppelsee’ nature campsite, which combines fishing and camping, is located on the south-eastern shore.

The fishing waters are located in the protected area of the Schlaubetal Nature Park. Responsible anglers keep their distance from the reed and water lily areas to avoid disturbing animals and breeding birds.
