Description

In addition to the Adonis florets, the Oder Mountains are home to an astonishing variety of plants that have adapted to their respective locations, both in their lifestyle and in their growth habit. You can see the Adonis florets in the Priestschlucht gorge and on the Oder slopes near Mallnow, which bloom in April and transform the area into a sea of golden yellow. An educational trail offers insights into this special flora.

Lebus, one of the oldest towns in Brandenburg, can also be reached by bike via the Oder-Neiße cycle path. The former episcopal city appeared in the chronicles as early as 1109. Two districts characterize the picture, one on the Lebus plateau and one directly at the foot of the banks of the Oder. The castle hill, which is divided into tower hill, castle hill and Pletschenberg, is clearly visible. The castle, which served as a bishop's seat from 1129 to 1373, was recreated using steel elements. The outlines of the cathedral's foundation walls are traced by cobblestones. Below the castle hill stands the historic parish church, which was destroyed and rebuilt several times.

In the spring of 1945, 97 percent of Lebus was destroyed by heavy fighting. The Haus Lebuser Land Museum offers a comprehensive insight into the history of the diocese, the region and the city of Lebus through pictures, archaeological finds and other exhibits.

  • Lebus Castle Hill
  • Lebuser Land House Museum
