Start / Finish: Müllrose Market Square

Duration / Distance: 3 hours / 9 kilometers

Arrival / Departure:

Take the RE1 train to Jacobsdorf, then bus A400 to Müllrose, Markt (available weekends and public holidays from May to October)

Or: take the RE1 to Frankfurt (Oder), then transfer to RB36 to Müllrose, Bahnhof

Description:

The trail begins at the market square, passing through Beeskower Straße, the town hall, and the two oldest buildings in Müllrose. Just beyond the public beach, a historic tree-lined avenue leads your eyes to numerous rowing boats gently swaying on the calm water.

Beyond the edge of town, a pine forest begins, with large alders and reeds lining the lakeshore. Soon, you’ll see the island of Fischwerdel - known by locals as the “Island of Love” - which is a resting and nesting place for many waterfowl. Near the southern shore of the lake, a rest area offers a view across the water to the “Seeschlösschen” (Little Lake Castle), once a popular excursion restaurant, now a private residence. Nearby, the Schlaube stream flows into the lake.

The path then leads toward the main road, follows it briefly, then turns back into the pine forest and crosses the Schlaube via a bridge before the railway embankment. From the Wustrower Berge railway crossing, the circular route joins the Schlaubetal Trail heading back toward Müllrose. Below the picnic shelter at “Bruno’s Rest,” you’ll find a particularly beautiful view of the lake and the town on the opposite shore, with its lakeside promenade and the imposing building of the Müllrose mill.

At the public swimming area, you’ll have the chance to take a refreshing dip. Along Seeallee, the small Katharinensee can be glimpsed on the right, and further along the lakeside promenade, numerous benches invite you to rest and take in the view. At the mill shop of the oldest still-operating mill in the Schlaubetal, you’ll find various baking mixes, accessories, and other regional products to take home or give as gifts.

TIP: Just behind the market square, it's worth visiting the Haus des Gastes (Visitor Center) with the Schlaubetal Information Office, the Local History Museum, and the Nature Park Center—for more tips on things to do in Müllrose and the Schlaubetal.
